Domaine Chaume Arnaud was born in 1987 owing to a young and passionate couple committed to traditional, sustainable methods of viticulture. In 1999, Valerie Chaume-Arnaud took over the vineyard her parents owned and first started bottling and selling wine under the Chaume-Arnaud name.

Now Valerie and her husband Philippe own 33ha in Vinsorbes and 6ha in Cotes du Rhone. We grow very old Grenache and Carignan and also one of the oldest Syrah of the area. Our terroir is made of soils of calcareous clay and gravels and lies down on the best exposed slopes from Saint Maurice to Vinsobres.

We feel it is essential to focus on the soils: they need to be breathed, nourished and protected. The entire winemaking operation from vineyard to winery is one of the most environmentally conscious. We follow organic principles and in 2009 the domaine has been certified as biodynamic.

Chaume-Arnaud Vinsobres 2011

The blend here is a classic Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre mix. The wine has haunting aromatics of violets and dark fruit, followed by a palate of black fruit, crushed rock and hedgerow flavors, firm acidity and impressively silky tannins.

Terroir : South facing stony, limestone clayey terroir. Grapes: 60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, 10% Mourvèdre Wine making : De-stemming Crushing Fermentation only with indigenous yeasts Pigeage Maceration for 3 weeks Ageing in concrete tanks
